Hi, my name is Han Byrne-Cox. I’d like to share with you a little bit of my story and God’s amazing work in rescuing me from a very painful childhood, giving me a beautiful adoptive family and discovering God’s calling on my life to become a missionary.
When I was a baby, I was left at an orphanage in China. I grew up never knowing who my father and mother were. I was the only albino kid in my school and often experienced bullying. The other kids would tease me or beat me because of my skin color. Although the beatings were painful, the words hurt even more. And all the pain built up in me until sometimes I felt like I might explode. But then one day, I heard about God for the first time. I realized that He had always been with me and knew exactly how I felt. And I knew I could give him all my pain. When I did, I experienced such deep healing.
When I was 14, I was adopted into a beautiful family here in America — 9 brothers and sisters and a mom and a dad who believe in me and encourage me to follow God’s calling on my life. In 2020, I came to Discipleship Training School in Madison where I learned so much about God, friendship and serving others. I also learned what it’s like to have a deep friendship with God as my Father and how to share His love with others.
Now, I am doing my dream job. I am a missionary! And I am ready sacrifice my life to share the goodness of God with others. I am not afraid of the devil.
My Goals
When I was a child, there was a woman who came to help at my orphanage. We were often hungry at my orphanage and there was many meals we missed because there wasn’t enough food. But this woman would bring us good food. She cared for us like we were her own kids. She showed us compassion. And through her, I began to learn about God. I want to help other kids like she helped me. I want children at risk to experience compassion and discover God’s love through my life.
Secondly, I have loved yo-yos for a long time. I remember watching them go up and down as a kid and longed to learn how to do tricks with them. About 9 years ago, I picked up my own yo-yo and have been Yo-yoing since. If you were to meet me today or see me walking around town, chances are, there would be a yo-yo in my hands.
I’ve now become a bit of a master at it and realized that yo-yos are a great way to share the gospel. Yo-yoing attracts people’s attention and while they curiously watch the tricks I am doing, I share with them stories about God. I know God is with and he wants me to do what I love.
I would love to have you as a part of my missions support team! My commitment to you is to keep you updated on my journey and share the stories of my mission trips and yo-yo missionary life. If you do feel led by God to support me, I would love to be in touch with you.
