We are now in our second week of ministry here and it is going very well. The students have been plugging into projects around the compound where the children’s home is located (planting trees, painting the new preschool room, tearing off old damaged drywall, digging, even doing some electrical work).
A team captain hard at work today! We helped clear a lot of nasty weeds in the yard of the neighborhood soup kitchen so the kids can play there.
They have also been working with the neighborhood soup kitchen (Comedor) helping to clean, serve food, and most of all, be relational with the kids and adults. The games Connect 4 and Dutch Blitz are very popular!
Furthermore, students have also been working with the kids at Rancho Los Amigos – getting the kids ready for the day, watching the youngest little girls in the home while the other kids are at school, helping with homework, playing during the afternoon, getting ready for bed, and finally, nightly devotionals.
