Mural

When we first came to the AIDS orphanage, Dr. Edwards asked if any of us liked to paint. My eyes lit up and my husband Travis pointed to me. (I just graduated college with a degree in Art.) I wondered what I would get to paint.

Areli and I brainstormed and decided to sketch a jungle scene with owls, butterflies and monkeys at play. We sketched it out on paper and then painted it on the wall. After seven hours of sketching and painting, the mural was finally done!

“Maybe you could do this in orphanages all over the world,” Jen said as we painted. “It could be an incredible ministry.”

Maybe I could, I thought. Wouldn’t that be amazing to use my art skills and education to give orphans beautiful homes to live in?
