Living Christian Apologetics

Living Christian Apologetics

Learn to defend your faith with gentleness and respect.

Have you ever tried to evangelize to someone who used to be a Christian, but left their faith due to the weight of their doubts? Have you ever tried to disciple someone who was having deep questions about their faith? Have you ever wrestled with your own faith? The Living Christian Apologetics seminar exists to help you know how to bring relevant answers to difficult questions, and help you grow as an evangelist, a discipler, and as a Christian.

What to expect

The LCA has a full learning week schedule, including not just classroom lecture, but also reading books, watching and discussing debates, devotional Scripture engagement, and hitting the streets to practice evangelism multiple times a week.

September 22 – November 2, 2024

If there is a desire among the students, a 1-3 weeks optional outreach could be organized that would happen after the Nov 2 graduation.

How much

Tuition covers the cost of meals, lodging, guest speakers, and books.

Love the Lord your God with all your mind.

The Living Christian Apologetics seminar is 6 weeks of intense and interactive study into topics such as:

  • How to tactfully navigate difficult conversations without angering or alienating your audience.
  • What can we know about God from science, philosophy, and ethics?
  • How to think more logically, clearly, and cogently about complicated topics.
  • How to demonstrate the trustworthiness of Scripture, and in particular, demonstrate the historical reality of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
  • What are the most common reasons for people leaving Christianity, and how can we lovingly address those issues in a way that could help people maintain their faith?

Speaking all the way back in the 60s, theologian Harry Blamires said in his book The Christian Mind: How Should Christians Think?: “There is no longer a Christian mind. There is still, of course, a Christian ethic, a Christian practice, and a Christian spirituality….But as a thinking being, the modern Christian has succumbed to secularization.” How much more true is that today, 60 years later?

How can we, the church, say that we love God with all our mind if our minds are functionally no different than the culture’s? Throughout the LCA seminar, we are committed to understanding what it means to have the mind of Christ and how to love God with it: both through encountering Him in our studies, and through using our minds to serve Him and His purposes in our ministries.

The LCA seminar is a UofN College of Christian Ministries seminar. Students will receive 6 credits upon completing the course. Successful completion of a DTS is required to attend the LCA. There can be an optional, non-credit, evangelistic outreach that would be designed by the students and staff together if there is interest. Please indicate on your application form if you would be available and interested in participating in 1-3 week outreach after the completion of the lecture phase!
