Are you ready to answer the call of compassion? Will you go where it hurts? The need for compassion has never been more urgent. Refugees fleeing wars and economic disaster. Aids orphans. Human trafficking. Widows. Unreached people groups. Broken families. People without access to medical care, clean water, Scripture or a home to sleep in. God’s heart is breaking. He is moved with compassion. And He’s looking for workers.
And yet as Jesus looked out over hurting crowds, His first call was to prayer. “Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” (Mat. 9:36-38)
Compassion begins in the place of prayer. It’s there we connect to the heart of God. It’s there we see as He sees and feel as He feels. But then it quickly moves to action. The prophet Isaiah said it like this,
- “This is the kind of fasting I want:
Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.
“Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
“Then your salvation will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.” (Is. 58:6-8)
We’re seeking God for a compassion revolution. Will you join us? We’re calling for an army of prayer warriors to join us on a 21 day Compassion Fast. Here’s how it works:
- PICK a day between September 5-25
- PRAY for the least, the lost and the forgotten on that day. Ask God to stir your heart with specific people and places.
- PLAN an act of compassion. Then DO it.
