Asian Students Discover Personal Valuev-divider

The Bible School for the Nations students were in a closed Asian nation this summer teaching English and Biblical life principles. For security purposes, we cannot reveal their location or real names of the people they taught.

Our team sat in a circle with the English students for discussion. The question we were discussing in class was if people have value.

"People are all valuable, but they have different value" a girl named Linda said.  She continued speaking very passionately, raising her voice. "I think that hardworking people are more valuable."

My heart cried for her and I wondered how to help her understand. "What about babies?" I asked. "They can't do anything. They can't work. Are they valuable?"

The English students were silent. I could see in their eyes that this was a strange idea for them. "I suppose  you're right," Linda said. "They do have value."

We continued to talk about God-given value, that our value is the same no matter what we can and cannot do. Those in our English class and others we've shared with have started to look at others around them with new eyes.

Many people here are open to hearing new things. I'm so excited for the future of this nation! Right now, they're steeped in ideas about their value being wrapped up in their achievements. But if this new generation would truly learn the source of their value–that they're created in God's image–imagine what they will be like! This nation would look very different in twenty years.
